Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ per hour.
Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ per hour.
In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
Duties
The nominal workload for this position is 10 hours per week (6 hours demonstrating, 4 hours of marking and lab preparation). Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. Duties include assisting students during lab, grading assignments, examinations and maintaining grading sheets and leading local course-associated field trips.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include completion of 15 credits or more of a single or combined degree in Earth Sciences (or equivalent*). Completion of ERSC 3P12 (or equivalent*) with a final grade of 75% or higher.
*Equivalency will be determined by the course instructor. Applicants must make a case that their qualifications are equivalent to those required above.
