NAIT's Electrical Engineering Technology program is a nationallyaccredited and internationally recognized program that provides a comprehensivestudy of electrical principles and practices. The program will providegraduates with the skills to perform entry-level roles in several industrydisciplines, including power systems operation and protection, maintenance andcommissioning, electrical machines, industrial and commercial design, powerelectronics, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

The Electrical Engineering Technology program has an opening for acasual instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success,with outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

We are looking to fill the following courses:

ELEC2313 – Field Services – This coursecovers the testing of electrical equipment and places a strong emphasis onsafety procedures and equipment. Topics include familiarization with switchgearand protection and control diagrams, including single-line and breaker controlschematics. Testing using industry standards is performed on medium-voltagecables, circuit breakers and on power and instrument transformers. Students arerequired to produce and present a technical report detailing the procedures andresults obtained during the course.

ELEC1181 – Electrical Fundamentals – (Labco-instructor ) – This course begins with the basic fundamentals of DCvoltage, current and resistance. It will also look at Ohm’s law and Kirchhoff’slaws and their applications for series and parallel circuits, resistancenetworks and circuit reduction theorems. Other topics include energy and power,capacitance, and the use of measuring instruments. The course then coversmagnetism, magnetic circuits, electromagnetism and single phase AC. It willalso discuss the fundamentals of inductance, reactance, impedance and admittance.Resonance in series and parallel AC circuits will be discussed as well asimpedance networks, energy, power, power factor and power factor improvement.Phasor diagrams and power quality instruments will be used throughout thecourse to corroborate experimental data with theoretical calculations.Laboratory exercises reinforce the theory.

The successful candidate will:

have strong technical knowledge inElectrical Engineering fundamentals have technical knowledge andexperience in field service and protective relaying be able to work both independentlyand within a team environment bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideasthat will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the ElectricalEngineering Technology program familiarity with Microsoft Officeand industry related software tools are essential.

ContractInstruction Deliverables:

Provide direct classroom/labinstruction while utilizing appropriate instructional strategies to maximizestudent motivation and learning in a skill-building environment; Evaluate the learningprocess: Ensure learning is evaluated ina reliable and timely manner, providing appropriate and timely feedback tostudents; Submit marks/records promptly; Maintain professional andethical relationships with students and colleagues. Respond to student issues. Utilize appropriate educational technology forpresentations, communications and program promotions

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements are a relatedTechnology Diploma with several years of related experience. An additional related advanced degree wouldbe an asset. Industry experience in design usingrelevant codes and software.
