Working towards a world free from cancer, BC Cancer has a mandate that covers the entire spectrum of cancer care, from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. BC Cancer provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia in partnership with regional health authorities to deliver a range of cancer services, which include prevention, screening and early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates six regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford and Prince George, along with two research centres that conduct research into the causes and cures for cancer.
BC Cancer – Vancouver is the largest treatment facility within BC Cancer and works in close collaboration with the BC Cancer Research Centre (BCCRC) and Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) , both of which are in close proximity. We are seeking a Hematologist for the Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program, located at the Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver. British Columbia, Canada.
The preferred candidate shall have experience beyond Fellowship training and have expertise in both BMT and hematologic malignancies. We are seeking candidates with demonstrable academic achievement who have both superb clinical skills and a keen interest in clinical research. Candidates with an interest in establishing or expanding disease specific programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
This FACT accredited stem cell transplantation program currently transplants approximately 330 patients per year, and provides care for autologous and allogeneic transplant recipients (including related, unrelated and cord blood transplants). CAR Tcell Therapy delivery is established and is expected to expand in the future. The Program also provides care for acute leukemia patients in the Province of BC.
The Program has a full complement of support personnel including cell processing through the Cell Therapy Laboratory at the BC Cancer Research Centre. Academic appointments and support are delivered through the Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine, University of British Columbia (UBC) . An appointment with the Provincial Health Service Authority (PHSA) is mandatory and consulting privileges at VGH are expected. A Clinical Faculty appointment with the Department of Medicine at UBC is expected.
The successful applicant must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and must have obtained a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or hold an equivalent qualification, by the time of appointment.

Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.
