The part-time lab technician is responsible for analyzing samples (product and packaging) timely and accurately in a face paced production environment. Roles require accurate data recording with some judgement to interpreting test results against limits and standards. Oversee product integrity and adherence to product quality standards and specifications by:

Gathering product/packing samples Prioritizing and analyzing samples on a variety of chemical and other analysis and accurately record the data Comparing data to specifications and standards; reporting nonconformance to their manager or production supervisor Recording all test results accurately on hardcopies and/or digital systems for easy access and traceability and adhering to ISO standards

Executing product analysis using laboratory equipment ranging from simple to highly sophisticated technology. This role is responsible for:

Maintaining, calibrating, and running the equipment and test apparatus in a safe and productive way to guarantee reliability of result Utilizing training and knowledge to proactively identify flags, trends and settings to predict drifting, failing or potential errors and react and correct these to ensure accuracy Monitor chemicals and consumables used to perform analysis; identify when inventories meet a minimum to initiate reorder. If alternate suppliers are needed, help identify reputable suppliers Prepare chemicals to customized concentrations for the test required. Safe handling, storing and shelf life is critical Checking final filter integrity testing and managing filter quantity

Based on a set of analysis compared to specifications, this role:

Approves production line for start up and running Ensures that packages products are within required specification Verifies that some running/bottling parameters on the production line are met Obtains retained samples, logs and maintains sample library

Work environment:

Shift scheduled from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Primarily a laboratory environment and standing for a large % of the day (high frequency) Multitasking & attention to detail (high frequency) May require physical effort which entails lifting and moving up to 50 lbs Must be able to work alone Understanding delivery of accurate result as it relates to quantity vs quality Some tasks involve being in a noisy production environment

What you’ll bring

Post secondary education in Chemical engineering, chemical technologist/technician, or related disciplines with detailed knowledge of common laboratory practices and procedures 1-2 years experience in a high volume routine laboratory testing environment Working experience of ISO, HACCP and CI processes is preferred (Lean, Six Sigma, 20 Keys) Exposure to production environment Food and Beverage environment Auditing experience Work independently Strong ability to follow written instructions Effective communication skills People skills Multi tasking Team player Goal oriented

Compensation : $22/ hr
