Job Description

We are looking for a creative and energetic individual with exceptional customer service and leadership skills, who has knowledge of, and experience working with playschool children. This temporary position will work on a part time basis to cover Elmworth School until June 2025. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing opportunities for children ages 3 - 4 years to engage in play centered activities
  • Facilitating social interaction opportunities for the children
  • Role-modelling healthy interactions using evidence-based practices
  • Providing information and resources to caregivers
  • Planning playschool social/recreational activities that enhance children's developmental skills
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work/play environment
  • Implementing safety standards in children's activities and child monitoring
  • Leading/assisting in emergency situations
  • Providing quality customer service to external clients and internal staff.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, patient and have a love of children. You will also possess:

  • An Early Childhood Diploma is preferred; Level 1 or 2 ECE is an asset
  • Valid class 5 license with an acceptable driver's abstract and reliable vehicle
  • Reliable vehicle to be used for work purposes (team meetings, etc.)
  • Experience working with groups of children
  • Experience working with parent/caregivers
  • CPR/First Aid with AED Certificate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to use tact, diplomacy, and mature judgment
  • The ability to provide safe and effective child development activities while monitoring/supervising
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records and Child Intervention Record checks (to be provided prior to starting the role)


Additional Information

This position is temporary part-time, until June 2025. 

Hourly Pay: $32.81 to $38.60.
