Salary range for the position is $116,591 to $167,600. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:

The Director, Planning and Initiatives, Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation is responsible for developing and maintaining the strategy for Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation. The Director coordinates strategic and planning processes for the Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation portfolio. The Director also interprets and translates provincial mandates, Interior Health (IH)-wide directions, population health needs and portfolio priorities to support Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation while working collaboratively with team member and partners to ensure smooth implementation of the transformation. The incumbent will develop strategic senior level documents, liaise with enabling and operational departments, gather research on innovative mental health and substance use solutions, develop, and deliver complex presentations to IH leaders, develop processes to monitor and measure progress and provide additional strategic support to facilitate the mental health and substance use transformation within IH. The incumbent will translate provincial mandates and IH-wide direction into understandable strategic / tactics, while working collaboratively with operational leaders and enabling partners to ensure clear and concise communication to ensure successful system transformation.

What will you work on:

•Develops and maintains the strategy for Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation.

•Develops and maintains a deep understanding of the planning, strategy and constantly evolving direction of Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation.

•Develops key strategic documents on behalf of the Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation portfolio including but not limited to the VP Work Plan, quarterly reports, annual reports, Risk Register, briefing notes, and other required documents.

•Monitors and reports on the progress of Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation across IH.

•Ensures the ongoing review of Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation initiatives.

•Directs and implements strategic initiatives utilizing sound change management theory in a multi-disciplinary and complex environment.

•Undertakes the research required to provide best practice recommendations that support and enhance organization-wide goals, Ministry requirements, and Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation deliverables.

•Identifies and engages with key internal and external partners, facilitates discussion/problem-solving, builds consensus, and facilitates transformation and horizontal implementation of complex strategies across the organization.

•Liaises with senior leadership tables within IH and connects with Directors, Managers, employees, physicians, and other Health Authorities as required for assigned initiatives.

•Liaises with other functional health sectors within IH to ensure Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation strategies address patient/family needs across the continuum of care.

•Serves on and/or provides support to organization-wide or department-specific committees as assigned.

•Actively participates on the Mental Health and Substance Use Transformation Leadership Team.

•Manages assigned staff by performing duties such as recruiting, hiring, disciplining, and termination as required. Provides mentoring and coaching to staff as required, conducts performance evaluations, and prepares staff development and training plans.

•Manages financial resources by preparing the budget for approval, monitoring the budget, identifying variances, and taking corrective action required in order to maintain fiscal responsibility and accountability.

•In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations, and implementing required corrective actions.

•Performs other related duties as assigned.
