This is a temporary part-time assignment for up to twelve () months.

As a Registered Nurse in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will not only sharpen your clinical skills but also play a pivotal role in the first chapter of a baby's life. Is this you?
You are seeking a nursing role that exposes you to a range of patients, cases and technologies. Joining our NICU, which is part of the largest Women’s and Infants' high-risk centre in Canada, enables that experience. Unique cases you may encounter can range from cardiac to gastrointestinal. You’ll also gain experience with technologies such as MRI, X-rays, ultrasounds and ECHOs.

You value being prepared from the start. Our comprehensive and extensive nursing orientation will prepare you to independently care for premature and term infants. Orientation is comprised of classroom days and competency-based training to ensure you are confident and prepared for this role.

In addition to the interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, parents are encouraged to be active members of the team that take care of their infant while in our unit. This is part of our Family Integrated Care (FICare) philosophy that guides how we provide care for the infants in our NICU. Your ability to effectively communicate, support and teach parents will be key in this role.


About our NICU
The NICU consists of 2 levels of specialized care: Level III and Level II. The NICU has beds and provides care for infants who require assisted ventilation, intravenous nutrition, intensive cardiorespiratory monitoring and/or close nursing and medical care. Each year our team provides care for approximately 1, neonates. 

In this role you will:

Perform head to toe assessments Assess and support infant feeding  Carry out PIV insertions, capillary and venous blood work Care for infants with central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes and obtain exposure to multiple modes of ventilation Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
Job Requirements

Mandatory

Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor’s degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) provider status. Applicants without this status may be considered. This NRP program must be successfully completed within three (3) months of hire


Preferred

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN). Applicants in their final year or near completion will be considered Preference will be given to applicants with 1-2 years of recent Neonatal and/or Level 2 nursing experience; consideration may also be given to nursing graduates who have completed their consolidation in NICU or Paediatric Intensive Care Completion of or current enrollment in neonatal specialty certificate preferred. Applicants with less than one (1) year of NICU experience are encourage to obtain their NICU specialty certificate  S.T.A.B.L.E course
