:Job Summary:
The Front-End Developer will be responsible for new development and maintenance of multiple websites, blogs, and email HTML. This person will be a creative developer that goes beyond ideas and enter them into realm of implementation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting and executing designs and must have the capabilities to adopt quickly to new web designs and application trends. Must be able to translate Pet Valu’s need into functional and appealing interactive applications as well as communicating effectively with creative teams and clients.
This is a 1 year contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Build web pages and front-end/customer-facing applications, and portals with close attention to browser-side capabilities and overall system architectureBuild/improve website and customer/partner applications by translating business requirements into technical plansWrite new, and modify existing HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptActively troubleshoot and support web development and applications in productionStay abreast of best practices for front-end development and bring new ideas to the teamDevelop functional and appealing web- and mobile-based applications based on usabilityProvide website maintenance and enhancementsUse a combination of markup languages to write web pagesWrite functional requirement documents and specificationsAssist back-end developers with coding and troubleshootingCreate cascading style sheets (CSS) that are consistent across all browsers and platformsMaintain graphic standards and branding throughout the product’s interfaceStay up-to-date on emerging technologiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, and implement features.Develop robust, scalable, and maintainable code for both front-end and back-end components.Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure code quality standards are met.Investigate and resolve technical issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks.Works to support leads and pods in plans to achieve specific short-term program/project/sprint-related objectives within immediate functional area.Ability to determine expected results/outcomes and measure solution delivery accordinglyStay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve our development processes.Ability to communicate diplomatically in order to obtain cooperation and approval of action.Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and back-end developers to translate UI/UX designs into responsive, high-quality web interfaces.Develop modular, reusable front-end components and libraries using modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability, ensuring a seamless user experience across various devices and browsers.Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and adhere to coding standards and best practices.Stay abreast of emerging front-end technologies, trends, and best practices, and advocate for their adoption when appropriate.Ability to manage multiple feature priorities and sprint project goals that could have competing impactsClarity in suggesting technical dependencies for prioritization on competing priorities, risks and impacts that could derail monthly or quarterly sprint goalsSkills, Experience, Education, Certifications:
Bachelor’s in Information TechnologyMinimum 2-4 years HTML/CSS/JavaScript/ReactJS/NodeJS/NextJS, responsive or adaptive website developmentExperience developing for ADA complianceRetail experience, preferably working on e-commerce front-endsExpertise in core web technologies including HTML, CSS, Javascript, Node, and templating engines like Sightly, Handlebars, EJS, Jade, etcExperience with advanced Javascript frameworks like ReactJS & NextJSExperience with Application state management with Redux or similar librariesFamiliar with Unit testing, code coverageFamiliar with performance validation, accessibility tools, and SEO schemaExperience with module bundlers like WebpackExperience with Single Page Applications (SPA) is preferred.Experience with a CMS like ContentfulStrong understanding of Agile software development, SCRUM or SAFeExperience with one (1) or more of the following Cloud technologies including AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure is preferred.Experience with Retail e-commerce systemsExperience with mobile / wireless technologies in a retail environmentCompetencies
Experience with ReactJS and NextJS is required.Working knowledge of JavaScript frameworks like jQuery, retail eCommerce experience, at least one server-side scripting language (ASP, PHP, C#, JSP) and strong OOP principles and design patterns.Working knowledge of Contentful CMS & Clear understanding of layout aestheticsHigh depth of knowledge of web technologies gained from experiencedFamiliarity with browser testing and debuggingIn-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment) & Promote usability best practices.Strong knowledge of web development tools and programming languagesAbility to work within tight deadlines and be adept at balancing shifting priorities and timelinesInterpersonal skills to effectively coordinate technical discussions within the team as well as across all levels of the business.Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and remain flexible to changing requirementsQualifications & Personal Attributes:
