Position : Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
Location : Hearst, ON

GreenFirst is looking for a Health & Safety specialist to provide effective services related to Health, Safety, and Environment.

  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as applicable regulations and laws.

Responsibilities:
  • Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health & Safety Program.
  • Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union/management/employee relations.
  • Reports to the General Manager, Sawmill
  • Identify innovative ideas and implement activities to seek improvements, in order to promote awareness and provide a safe workplace.
  • Develop and Support Health and Safety programs and ensure the effective implementation and maintenance through the accountable managers.
  • Act as liaison with external service providers.
  • Act as a Health, Safety and Plant Protection resource person to all site employees.
  • Participate in various committees to ensure the consistent application of health, safety and plant protection practices.
  • Communicate Health, Safety, Environment and Plant Protection regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a communications program to keep all employees informed.
  • Maintain and distribute H & S Management Systems, policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and meet Health, Safety, Plant Protection budgets, explain variances and take appropriate corrective action as required.
  • Identify and keep up to date with new regulations and innovations to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of H & S services.
  • Develop, manage and maintain a system to provide safety statistics and reports to identify trends and preventative action while minimizing costs.
  • Identify and provide training, oversight and guidance to the Emergency Response Team (ERT), as necessary.
  • Complete various compliance controls, inspections and audits of all Environment & safety activities.
  • Establish, maintain, and apply systems and training to provide effective ERT services in compliance with Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Specification (OHSAS) (ISO 18001) standards.
  • Manage WSIB program for the Sawmill.
  • Manage site security

Requirements:
  • Education: University degree or equivalent
  • Experience: 5 years in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, Environment, industrial hygiene and health and safety best practices.
  • Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Language: English (spoken and written) and French would be considered an asset.

GreenFirst est à la recherche d’un(e) spécialiste pour fournir des services efficaces liés à la santé, la sécurité, et l’environnement.

Responsabilités :
  • Promouvoir et fournir un lieu de travail sécuritaire, rechercher des améliorations, soutenir le programme de santé et de sécurité.
  • Soutenir le respect de la convention collective et de bonnes relations syndicat/direction/employés.
  • Relève du directeur général, scierie
  • Identifier des idées novatrices et mettre en œuvre des activités pour rechercher des améliorations, afin de promouvoir la sensibilisation et d’offrir un lieu de travail sécuritaire.
  • Développer et soutenir les programmes de santé et de sécurité et assurer la mise en œuvre et le maintien efficaces par l’intermédiaire des gestionnaires responsables.
  • Agir en tant que liaison avec les fournisseurs de services externes.
  • Agir en tant que personne ressource en matière de santé, de sécurité et de protection du site pour tous les employés du site.
  • Participer à divers comités afin d’assurer l’application cohérente des pratiques en matière de santé, de sécurité et de protection du site.
  • Communiquer les règlements et les politiques et procédures internes en matière de santé, de sécurité, d’environnement et de protection du site.
  • Maintenir un programme de communication pour tenir tous les employés informés.
  • Maintenir et diffuser les systèmes, politiques et procédures de gestion de la santé et de la sécurité.
  • Préparer et respecter les budgets de santé, sécurité et protection du site, expliquer les écarts et prendre les mesures correctives appropriées au besoin.
  • Identifier et se tenir au courant des nouvelles réglementations et innovations pour accroître l’efficacité et l’efficience des services H&S.
  • Développer, gérer et maintenir un système pour fournir des statistiques de sécurité et des rapports pour identifier les tendances et les actions préventives tout en minimisant les coûts.
  • Identifier et fournir une formation, une supervision et des conseils à l’équipe d’intervention d’urgence (ERT), si nécessaire.
  • Réaliser divers contrôles de conformité, inspections et audits de toutes les activités d’environnement et de sécurité.
  • Établir, maintenir et appliquer des systèmes et des formations pour fournir des services ERT efficaces conformément aux normes du système de gestion de l’environnement (ISO 14001) et de la spécification d’évaluation de la santé et de la sécurité au travail (OHSAS) (ISO 18001).
  • Gérer le programme CSPAAT pour la scierie.
  • Gérer la sécurité du site

Exigences :
  • Éducation : Diplôme universitaire ou équivalent
  • Expérience : 5 ans en milieu industriel.
  • Connaissance des lois et règlements applicables, des meilleures pratiques en matière d’environnement, d’hygiène industrielle et de santé et sécurité.
  • Compétences en leadership, en relations interpersonnelles et en communication.
  • Langue : L’anglais (parlé et écrit) et le français seraient considérés comme un atout.
