Teaching Assistant, Plant Sciences, PLSC 213

In the appointment of Teaching Assistant (72 hour positions), your general duties and responsibilities will be:

Preparation of laboratory materials for students, maintaining plant demonstration material in a growth chamber Presenting pre-laboratory instructions and overseeing a laboratory section in the teaching lab, field, or controlled growth facility (Phytotron) Consultation with students or student groups using discussion boards, video meeting, email, or office hours Providing feedback to students and marking laboratory assignments Your general location of work will be AGRI 4C77 and you will report to the laboratory coordinator Amanda Muller.

In the appointment of Teaching Assistant (20 hour position), your general duties and responsibilities will be:

Grading and invigilating midterm and final exams Providing support to the PLSC lecture You will report to Dr. Yuguang Bai

Required Number of Hours : two positions of 72 hours term and one position of 20 hours during the academic term
Duration of Employment : 2024-2025 Regular Fall session
Course Name, Abbreviation and Number : PLSC 213 - Principles of Plant Ecology

Start and End Dates: September 1 to December 31

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities)
Minimum of a degree or equivalent in Biological Sciences and registration in a graduate program is required. Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in a plant ecology focused program and/or students that have a strong background in plant ecology. 

Previous course work in senior undergraduate or graduate level plant ecology courses is required.
Experience in teaching and/or public speaking, plant identification and field sampling, using excel and coordinating lab experiments and activities are considered valuable skills.
