Job Title: Teaching Assistant, Plant Sciences, PLSC 213 TA

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to serve as a Teaching Assistant in our Plant Sciences department.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory materials for students, including plant demonstration material in a growth chamber.
  • Present pre-laboratory instructions and oversee laboratory sections in the teaching lab, field, or controlled growth facility.
  • Provide consultation and feedback to students through various means, including discussion boards, video meetings, email, and office hours.
  • Grade and invigilate midterm and final exams, as well as provide support to the PLSC lecture.
  • Report to the laboratory coordinator Amanda Muller and Dr. Yuguang Bai.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a degree or equivalent in Biological Sciences and registration in a graduate program.
  • Preference given to students currently enrolled in a plant ecology focused program or with a strong background in plant ecology.
  • Previous course work in senior undergraduate or graduate level plant ecology courses required.
  • Experience in teaching, public speaking, plant identification, and field sampling considered valuable skills.
