Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the Impact Benefits Agreement (IBA) and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Ontario communities. About The Role
Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days offf
Position Reports To: Exploration Manager
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the position is responsible for field support to the Exploration team.
Responsibilities
Core cutting. Sample management and organisation in the sample lay down area. Moving core from processing area to storage facilities. Prepare drill core for logging and assist in the collection of analytical data. Prepare sample bags in advance of drilling. Sieve, store and manage the sample chips Assist with prospecting activities, soil sampling, line cutting. Other related duties to support the team as required.Requirements
Grade 12 Diploma or an equivalent or a combination of education and work experience. Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions for long periods exposed to the elements. Ability to life 50lbs repeatedly. G class license is required. Experience with sampling procedures is preferred. Experience in an open pit operation is an asset. Demonstrated leadership in safety. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually.Why New Gold?
