Your Role:

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to work in our Power Division contributing to the successful completion of projects in the transmission and distribution and renewables energy sector. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Responsibilities:

Work independently to complete structural design calculations and mark up design drawings to be drafted Lead project teams to coordinate the completion of small projects Liaise with other discipline leads, project managers, vendors, contractors and clients to facilitate smooth flow of information for use in preparing preliminary and detailed design and provide design clarifications and solutions during construction. Committing to and maintaining project timelines The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills) Preparation and/or verification of procurement activities and deliverables Prepare purchase requisition, review technical content of supplier bids and technical submissions Perform any required site inspections as necessary. Monitor project schedule and budgets within your area of responsibility and report status on a regular basis

Qualifications:

University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering 5+ years of related engineering experience is considered an asset Experience with transmission stations structures and overhead transmission lines with operating voltages not less than 115 kV is an asset Knowledge of electrical substation steel structures and foundations, industrial buildings, and overhead transmission line structural design is desirable Previous experience in the design of heavy industrial structures (steel, concrete, wood, masonry), preferably in the power industry, and Consulting Engineering experience is desirable Must have strong computer skills (familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, MathCAD, Structural Analysis Software such as STAAD, SFrame, RISA, and/or transmission line design software PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole & Tower, SAGSEC and CAISSON etc...) Strong leadership and communication skills are required.Candidate must effectively work as part of the multidiscipline design team and provide leadership and guidance to the team. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the United States or Canada is mandatory

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.) 

If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational and security) and professional reference checks is required. Some Tetra Tech positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
