FERO Waste and Recycling Inc., a division of The Municipal Group of Companies, is an Environmental Services company that services the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. For over 20 years, FERO has been providing integrated waste collection, management, and recycling services. We are currently seeking the qualifications and expertise of a Red Seal Truck & Transport Mechanics based out of Truro, NS.

Job Summary:
The successful candidate in this position will perform a variety of tasks on heavy-duty trucks, large construction vehicles, tractor trailers and more.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Regular maintenance and repair for all transport trucks, including repairing and rebuilding engines and transmissions; diagnosing and repairing air brake, suspension, steering, and electrical systemsComplete reports to record problems and work performedInspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctionsDiagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unitAdjust, repair or replace parts and components of transport truck and truck-trailer systemsInspect brake systems, wheel bearings, steering components and other engine parts, and perform repairs as requiredPerform scheduled maintenance serviceTest and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specificationsHelp prevent breakdowns by checking, cleaning, and oiling machine parts regularlyBe aware of surroundings at all timesEnsure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

Candidates who have completed Interprovincial Red Seal Mechanic Certificate3 years’ experience in trucking or heavy equipmentAbility to perform complete repair and overhaul functionsMaintains a safe and clean work environmentClass 3 Drivers LicenseWillingness to work in a team environmentHigh attention to detailAbility to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible mannerAbility to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisorsWorking safely is a condition of employment.
