About the Position
This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of ADM's facilities with respect to employee health, safety and compliance. Peer relationships include the plant manager, plant superintendent, quality control and food safety manager, production supervisors, and all plant staff. This position is subject to strict deadlines due to the reporting required by internal and external managers. Careful attention to detail is required, even when faced with multiple tasks that need to be completed within 24 hours. This position is under the direct responsibility of the HSE Director and under the functional responsibility of the Plant Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

Constantly striving to achieve the goal of "Zero is possible" through employee engagement, leading by example, and thinking about innovation

Ensure that the working environment is always safe by applying company standards, ensuring that unsafe behaviours and conditions are corrected and followed up on during regular inspections

Participate in accident and incident investigations and follow up on corrective actions resulting from these investigations

Championing near-miss reporting

Have a working knowledge of provincial and federal laws

Have a strong foundation in joint health and safety committees

Work collaboratively with the HSE Area Manager for the implementation and application of all ADM principles related to health, safety and environment

Provide mandatory training to all managers, co-workers and contractors on how to implement these programs

Ensure that the site always complies with all regulations, policies and guidelines of ADM, the CNESST, and the provincial and federal governments

Develop, implement and maintain programs, records and reports related to health and safety, as well as compliance with laws and the environment

Communicate with management on a daily basis on issues related to facility safety, food safety and environment

Oversee audits of clients, third parties and regulators in their respective areas of responsibility

Be accountable in ensuring that the institution achieves passing marks by maintaining consistent accessibility to the audit

Ensure that corrective action plans are implemented to address any deficiencies identified during an audit in a timely manner

Required Skills and Qualifications

Must have an excellent command of the following skills: computer, communication, problem-solving, and leadership, as well as the ability to work as part of a high-performing team

This position requires the ability to walk, climb ladders, use tools, work in confined spaces and in extreme temperatures

Be able to work in an office and industrial environment for extended periods of time

Communicate file status updates and suggestions for improvement

The position requires the candidate to be fluent in both French and English (spoken and written English is required for this position due to transactions and communications with U.S. and Canadian partners). Proven experience in the field of high-speed production

Ensure a safe and productive work environment

The successful candidate will be expected to be assertive, courteous and possess strong leadership skills

Follow the instructions on the first try

Education or Work Experience

Diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety issued by an accredited institution

Certified training in First Aid, CPR and AED

Minimum work experience in a dedicated health and safety position, with knowledge of the industrial environment and regulatory compliance

Certification from the Canadian Council of Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) or Certified Safety Technician in Canada, or willingness to do so, is an asset

Additional Information

Understand security and EHS requirements and be accountable for their full compliance

Ensure that unsafe working conditions are corrected

This position may be subject to overtime depending on the needs of the company

Full-time employment opportunity depending on the needs of the company and willingness to relocate

Follow ADM's health and safety standards and report any unsafe behaviors or conditions
