Job Description:


Reporting to the Senior Manager of Health and Safety, the Specialist, Health and Safety will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, continuous improvement and enhancement measures of the SSENSE Health & Safety program.

The Specialist will support and guide the SSENSE populations (Fulfillment Center, Retail, Studio, Headquarters, vendors and contractors) in analyzing, assessing, and developing tools and resources that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors.


Responsibilities
Quality and Continue Process Improvements - 35%

  • Collaborate on the continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems to ensure programs are relevant to the business model.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide appropriate risk mitigation measures to Management, including, but not limited to ergonomics, etc.
  • Establish and maintain a hazard identification, near miss and safety observation program that rewards proactive hazard prevention.
  • Support management efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate program expectations and applicable Federal and Provincial laws.
  • Investigate incidents/accidents, follow up and propose prevention mechanisms for the future.
  • Provide advice and make recommendations on the organization of the workplace, the workstation and the work equipment.
  • Support the development and followup on existing procedures and instructions, monitoring the implementation and execution of new or adapted procedures and instructions and formulate improvement proposals such as but not limited to training, Safety Committee, Audits, etc.
  • Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion.
Operations - 65%

  • Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly, and monthly audits as well as preparing analytical reports using health and safety data and metrics.
  • Assist in the management of incident investigations, cause identification, and corrective action implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure alignment to all Workmen's Compensation Board regulations and requirements.
  • Maintain and organize all required PPE and any health and safety related tools, supplies, incident and documents including all hazardous products records and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Assist in any claims, return to work programs, and injury case management.
  • Support monitoring the elaboration, programming, implementation and evaluation of the dynamic risk management process and system.
  • May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other safety related activities depending on the business unit and location.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or College diploma in Occupational Health & Safety is preferred.
  • A minimum of 24 years in EHS activities supporting large hourly populations.
  • Indepth knowledge of Quebec laws and regulations related to workplace accidents and workrelated illness.
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes (15kg).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • Flexible working schedule including weekends, day, evenings, nights, and overtime.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
