Eastern Shore Cartage (ESC) Environmental, a division of the Municipal Group of Companies, is a solid waste company that services Sheet Harbour and surrounding area. We are currently seeking the qualifications and expertise of a Truck and Transport Technician based out of Sheet Harbour, NS.

Job Summary:
The successful candidate in this position will perform a variety of tasks on heavy-duty trucks, large construction vehicles, tractor trailers and more. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 6:30am -4:30pm.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Regular maintenance and repair for all transport trucks, including repairing and rebuilding components; diagnosing and repairing air brake, suspension, steering, and electrical systemsComplete reports to record problems and work performedInspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctionsDiagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unitAdjust, repair or replace parts and components of transport truck and truck-trailer systemsInspect brake systems, wheel bearings, steering components and other engine parts, and perform repairs as requiredPerform scheduled maintenance serviceTest and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specificationsHelp prevent breakdowns by checking, cleaning, and oiling machine parts regularlyBe aware of surroundings at all timesEnsure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

Candidates who have completed Interprovincial Truck and Transport licensed Technician or Apprentices with 2 or more years’ experience.3 years’ experience in trucking or heavy equipmentAbility to perform complete repair and overhaul functionsMaintains a safe and clean work environmentWillingness to work in a team environmentHigh attention to detailAbility to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible mannerAbility to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisorsWorking safely is a condition of employment.
