DescriptionThe Senior Manager of Business Analysis will oversee a team of Business Analysts within the department. As a manager of the Business Analysis team, this role supports the development of the Business Analysis Centre of Excellence. Central to the practice is the precise definition of scope, requirements, and design for projects and enhancements on behalf of our stakeholders. The Senior Manager actively builds relationships and manages expectations with both business and technology partners. Additionally, this manager serves as a coach and mentor to the Business Analysis team, providing guidance for the effective daily management of Business Analysis commitments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leads the implementation of business systems utilizing industry best practices, serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for large releases and projects;
  • Manages the Business Analysis team, overseeing workloads, prioritizing tasks, estimating project effort, mapping dependencies, enhancing engagement, resolving conflicts, and making recommendations on hires and personnel changes to the Director of Business Analysis;
  • Defines and implements process improvements for the BA team, including the adoption of new software tools and best practices from the Business Analysis Centre of Excellence (BACOE);
  • Acts as a people manager to a team of professionals, supervising their work, conducting mid-year reviews, setting goals, and actively mentoring and motivating them;
  • Reviews team-produced requirements to ensure quality and completeness, meeting the needs of subscribers, technology team, management, and sponsors;
  • Gathers business requirements from users, defining and documenting these requirements and specifications for new and existing projects/releases;
  • Completes and manages the work stream plan for the projects they lead, ensuring all BAs complete work stream plans for their respective projects;
  • Collaborates closely with other departments to ensure requirements accurately capture sponsors' needs and that solutions address the business problem;
  • Contributes to all phases of system development through analysis of business requirements, business design, development, client training, data conversion, testing, and maintenance;
  • Manages large, complex projects, ensuring successful and timely delivery;
  • Acts as a liaison to Technology, supporting other departments, divisions, and organizations;
  • Ensures client commitments are met through effective business and technical solutions;
  • Maintains up-to-date documentation on systems and ensures requirements are detailed enough to manage out-of-scope situations;
  • Participates in ad-hoc special projects and releases as required.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferable in Business Administration or Information Technology;
  • IIBA Certification (CBAP) or PMP Preferred or Lean Six Sigma;
  • 5+ years’ experience in Business Analysis and Systems Design;
  • Previous experience working in a managerial or supervisory capacity;
  • Proficient in MS Suite Software including MS Visio;
  • Expert in Business Process Redesign;
  • Strong understanding of the Project Management and Delivery Process;
  • Strong knowledge and application experience of the software development lifecycle;
  • Analytical and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.;
  • Highly professional and presentable with a strong business acumen;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to lead a team to handle diverse deliverables, often simultaneously, and meet aggressive deadlines;
  • Ability and desire to navigate ambiguity, overcome confusion and simplify complex situations;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions;
  • Demonstrated experience in becoming a subject matter expert of product/service/process;
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and documenting business requirements;
  • Experience facilitating workshops and focus groups;
  • Demonstrated experience in use case and business process modelling;
  • Proficient knowledge of project management methodologies;
  • Proficient knowledge of Retail and/or Manufacturing industry as well as supply chain technologies and emerging trends;
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects with competing priorities and strict deadlines;
  • Proven ability to build effective and successful relationships within the organization;
  • Ability to work at a detailed level and quickly learn business application-specific details;
  • Strong orientation toward excellence in results and proven ability to quickly become a subject matter expert.
