Cardiology Technologist I

Your Opportunity:

Work in adventurous Fort McMurray at the Northern Lights Regional Hospital which serves a very diverse community in Wood Buffalo. This is an opportunity for you to join the team in the Ambulatory Care Department as a Cardiology Technologist I. Your days will be full as you assess, treat, and educate patients. You will be required to operate various recorders and observe the patients while on the devices and notify attending medical professional if patient’s condition changes. You will be required to analyze and summarize tests and generate reports for physicians to interpret. You will be required to use your communication, computer, and professional skills as you work collaboratively with the supportive multidisciplinary team. There is an Ambulatory Care booking office that book the appointments, but there may be a need to help assist them if needed. Education will be provided if you are asked to assist. Located in beautiful Fort McMurray which resides on Treaty 8 territory, the largest treaty by area in the history of Canada and on the traditional lands of the Metis. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Cardiology Technologist I, you will prepare the patients (clients, residents) for non-invasive cardiac testing to investigate cardiac abnormalities and level of function, including Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing and Ambulatory Monitoring. You will explain procedures and educate patients on equipment function as required as well as collect client history for procedures and document information for physicians. You will analyze and summarize test results, and generate reports for physician interpretation. You will provide expertise in the set-up, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and will be required to implement resuscitation measures when necessary. You will precept, orient new staff and students and provide input into the evaluation of cardiology trainees and/or students. You will also serve as a clinical resource by providing information regarding cardiology technology to staff and patients.

Completion of certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology. Active or eligible registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologist (ASRCT). Active or eligible registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists Cardiology Technology (CSCT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
