Position Summary
Reporting to the R&D Professional | Supervisor, R&D Lab, the Technologist I provides set-up and operation of laboratory and pilot plant test equipment and support to commercial operations.
This position is based out of Sherritt’s Technologies Division in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.
Accountabilities Assemble and operate routine laboratory and pilot plant test equipment Perform maintenance on routine laboratory and pilot plant test equipment, as per established procedures and protocols. Support the preparation of feed materials and chemical solutions for laboratory and pilot plant testing, including the operation of crushing and grinding equipment. Handle toxic, corrosive, and/or flammable materials, following established procedures. Collect and prepare test samples for analysis and conduct routine analyses Provide equipment assembly and operating data, test readings and observations through the preparation of relevant data sheets, graphs, and diagrams. Monitor equipment operation and sample collection in the field in support of commercial plant operations. Qualifications and Skills Diploma-qualified (Chemical Technology or equivalent), or a Bachelor of Science degree in the physical sciences. Working knowledge of fundamental chemical principles. Plumbing and pipefitting experience would be considered an asset. Operation and maintenance of routine mechanical and motorized equipment, including routine chemical processing reactors. Strong attention to detail. Preparation of data tables/Excel spreadsheets.
