Location: Various locations across British Columbia

As an Environmental Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that organizations comply with environmental regulations and standards. Your role will be crucial in monitoring environmental practices, conducting inspections, and promoting sustainable practices within the jurisdiction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of facilities and operations to assess adherence to environmental laws and regulations.
  • Review and analyze environmental impact assessments, reports, and permit applications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to organizations and stakeholders on environmental regulations, best practices, and compliance strategies.
  • Investigate and respond to environmental complaints and violations, taking appropriate enforcement actions as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports and documentation related to inspections, compliance, and enforcement activities.
  • Collaborate with other regulatory agencies, environmental organizations, and community groups to address environmental issues and promote sustainability.
  • Stay updated on changes in environmental regulations, industry trends, and best practices to ensure effective compliance and enforcement.

Requirements
  • Relevant certification or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an environmental compliance officer, environmental inspector, or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills for assessing environmental practices and identifying compliance issues.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with organizations, regulatory agencies, and the public.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for managing inspections, reports, and compliance records.
  • Ability to stay current with evolving environmental regulations, industry practices, and sustainability initiatives.
