The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. They will be responsible for respiratory support and family teaching for neonates with complex medical needs. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, Respiratory Therapist II in NICU will enhance the successful transition of neonates with complex medical needs from NICU to community care. The Neonatal Program of BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre offers a strong academic environment with a philosophy of evidence-based practice, support for patient-centred research and quality improvement and opportunities for innovation and excellence in clinical care.

Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy, successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination and a minimum of three years of neonatal respiratory care experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Eligible for membership with the British Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT). Successful completion of a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Instructor’s Program. Current Basic Life Support certification. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.You will also have
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meets deadlines and function efficiently despite interruptions and workload fluctuations. Ability to collaborate effectively with all team members. Critical thinking skills. Ability to develop and deliver educational programs for parents of infants requiring respiratory support within the home. Knowledge of and ability to operate all pertinent respiratory related equipment. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents – including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study – and how they intersect across the health care system. Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019). As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).What we bring
