KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Maintenance & Support: Conduct regular checks, troubleshoot issues, and provide quality support to ensure smooth database operations. Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance through tuning, ensuring efficient data flow and accessibility. Security & Compliance: Implement appropriate security measures, monitor for vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with data protection requirements. Data Integrity & Availability: Establish and enforce protocols to guarantee high data integrity and availability, including backup and recovery plans. Monitoring: Proactively monitor database systems to detect and address issues before they escalate. Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database schemas, configurations, and procedures to ensure clarity and consistency. Collaboration: Work closely with IT and development teams to align database management with organizational goals. Projects: Responsible and accountable for special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in database management Proven experience as a Database Analyst/Administrator (3-5 years)

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Effective communication skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Strong understanding of database best practices Expertise with SQL and Microsoft SQL Server database administration Expertise in data backup, recovery, security, performance, integrity, and replication Experience with Transact-SQL development and SQL Server Integration Services Experience with Cloud technologies, especially Microsoft Azure, an asset Experience with Oracle databases an asset Experience with SSRS and Power BI an asset Experience with Qlik, Redgate, and Quest tools an asset
