The Provincial Information Management and Analytics branch is looking for a Database Administrator in its Administration and Operations area within the Data Administration and Business Intelligence unit (DABI).
This area supports the provincial data repository self-service to allow service delivery organizations to analyze data and support complex decision-making. Administration and Operations implements security and user access models and policies, and manages provincial business intelligence tools.
Conditions of Employment:

- Must be able to work on-call or extended hours as required
Qualifications:
**Essential**:
- Post-secondary degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated proficiency in database management.
- In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize and tune performance of databases.
- Experience in database architecture and design principles, data modelling and schema documentation.
- Experience implementing and using automated event management, performance monitoring and alerting.
- Excellent scripting skills, particularly Structured Query Language (SQL) and Shell (Powershell and Unix Shell).
- Adept at working with different database management systems (DBMS), such as: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL. NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra may also be considered.
- Strong technical and non-technical verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills to respond to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
**Desired**:
- Experience working within a health data environment.
- Experience working with relevant areas of the big data ecosystem.
- Experience working with cloud service providers (e.g. AWS or Microsoft Azure).
**Duties**:
The Database Administrator is responsible for:
- Server/database capacity planning
- General database management, optimization, and schema planning
- Analysis and resolution of potential issues with technological partners
