DBNC is an accredited, non-profit organization providing support services to residents of Mississauga including newcomers to Canada, youth, seniors, and families. POSITION OVERVIEW:

This Position reporting to the Outreach and Development Manager and the Poverty Reduction Coordinator – works to alleviate poverty and related issues as well as build and maintain relationships across Peel to advance initiatives that address poverty and advocates for change. The incumbent provides overall support to Ontarians living on lower incomes to increase their personal financial management skills through financial education, monthly savings and the attainment of a long lasting productive goals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Program promotion and recruitment

•Program delivery: facilitation of money management and other financial related workshops

•One-on-one financing coaching support

•Facilitating project and handling any issues that might arise

•Communicate project updates and status to coordinator and manager

•Create and build relationships with businesses, and community organizations, to grow a mutual interaction related to the projects services

•Responsible to collect and provide accurate data and reports

•Assist in developing and delivering orientation sessions, and presentations

•Ensuring that the client’s needs are met as the projects evolve

•Ensure agencies and partners are engaged through consistent and effective communication

•Perform necessary administrative tasks

•Perform other duties assigned

Communication and Documentation

•Prepare reports and statistics and analyses related to areas of responsibility

•Keep track of daily, weekly and monthly reports

•Organize all program data, folders and documents using different tools as defined by the agency policy

•Provide reports and/or information as required

•Ensure all communication is clear, accurate, timely and professional in content and presentation

•Ensure sensitive material is kept secure and handled in an appropriate manner

•Communicate and follow up with projects staff and volunteers on client wrap-around services

•Use appropriate communication, methods and actions to establish a courteous and professional working relationship with others

Fiscal Responsibility and Inventory Control

•Keep track of the program inventory

•Use resources and supplies in an efficient and cost-effective manner

•Ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting and financial reporting

Risk Management and Technology Control

•Report and/or escalate any identified areas of risk to management or senior management

•Enforce and practice all organizational policies and procedures

•Ensure company-issued technology (desktop, laptop, portable devices), security access to site locations and online documents and folders are approved and properly recorded

Strategic Direction and Corporate Objectives

•Contribute to the development of the program and agency’s strategic direction and objectives

•Promote and/or implement the project objectives, ensuring practices align with the overall strategic direction and objectives

Health, Safety and Environment

•Keep abreast of all organizational policies that have been established to ensure support and minimize risk and liability to staff and DBNC

•Assist in maintaining a clean and pleasant work area and environment

•Attend all health and safety training (Evacuations, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher)

•Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and practice techniques for safe physical work requirements

Emergency Response and Security

•Know the location of the emergency exits, First Aid Kits, fire extinguishers, AED unit, MSDS sheets

Stakeholder and Community Relations

•Maintain DBNC relations through communication and liaison with other staff from all departments, agencies, partners, businesses, clients and others.

•Adhere to DBNC’s mission, vision and values

•Ensure clients receive relevant and respectful service from projects staff

•Actively network and participate with people/ organizations in like or related industries local businesses and others for outreach and partnerships

•Expand outreach activities and attend at related events

Professional Development and Training

•Keep apprised and knowledgeable of related professional trends and developments

•Participate in continuing education initiatives as provided by the program/DBNC

•Follow and share projects updates with the teams

Other

•Provide ideas, contributions or recommendations to the projects promotional materials or social media feeds

•Demonstrate emotional intelligence and sensitivity when interacting with people of who require assistance and/or are from culturally diverse populations

•Responsible to assist other departments and colleagues, as well as perform other duties as directed

•Adhere to and comply with all DBNC policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE):

Required:

•Degree or certification in a related field, such as social work, adult education, psychology, personal financial planning, business and/or finance.

•Minimum two years of direct experience in non-profit operations, or other related fields of non-profit management

•Excellent facilitation skills rooted in adult education principles.

•Experience in counseling/case management is an asset.

•Completion of the Financial Literacy Training and/or Financial Coaching Training Certificate is an asset.

•Excellent technology literacy, utilizing modern tools for collaboration, communication, and efficiency.

•Self- motivated and passionate about creating an inclusive economy and reducing poverty

•A passion for gender, racial, economic and social justice, along with a commitment to DBNC’s mission, vision and values.

•Outstanding client service orientation, with the ability to diffuse tense situations

•Superior interpersonal skills, able to interact with all levels in a professional, positive manner, able to build trusting relationships and be a team player

•Excellent, effective communication skills, both oral and in written format, creating and delivering presentations and workshops

•Strong decision-making skills and effective at problem-solving and negotiating resolutions

•Excellent time management, organized, possessing a solid ability to plan and follow up

•Able to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines and adapt easily to change

•Sensitivity to people from different socio-economic backgrounds

•Must be able to work in a virtual and in-person environment from a variety of locations within the Peel Region

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

•Criminal record check will be conducted on hire

•Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends, as the need arises

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

•General office environment – limited privacy and background noise of computer technology and office equipment

•Standing, walking, bending, moderate lifting, prolonged sitting and squatting

•Job hazards may include musculoskeletal disorders (repetitive strain), neck, shoulder, back fatigue, eye strain, carpal tunnel

•Special equipment includes computers, printers, photocopier, shredder, phone technology or other portable communication devices etc.
