Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares electrical and control cost estimates on proposals, bid packages, and projects while ensuring that the content of the estimate is complete, accurate and meets the requirements of the estimate or project plan Ensures bid write-ups are clear and concise through the planning, coordination, review, verification, and analysis of all aspects of estimates and estimate presentation Coordinates and reviews the variable estimating factors in each area with Engineering Operations, Procurement and Fabrication Prepares conceptual Single Line Diagrams and Control System Architecture drawings from PIDs, Scope of Work and Specifications Participates in the selection of the electrical and control equipment for the project Maintains familiarity with estimating and cost engineering developments and activities within the industry and assesses their significance, suggesting application to company business where warranted

Prerequisites

Education

A Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a certified Electrical Journeyperson. ASET membership is an asset

Experience

5 years of directly related experience in the Oil and Gas Industry with experience in PLC/DCS/HMI control systems Working knowledge of International and North American Standards and Codes is desirable Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required Previous electrical design experience with an EPCM company or in a fabrication environment would be considered an asset

Other

Familiarity with CEC, industry regulations, and standards Must be eligible to work in Canada As a condition of employment, employees are required upon hire to sign a Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, a Conflict of Interest Agreement, and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement

Technical decisions are routine in nature and will follow precedents and procedures Manager is readily available for assistance and guidance Work is reviewed for accuracy and conformance with prescribed procedures

Work Environment

Specific Work Conditions

Performs work in an office setting and requires the need to deal with a diversity of people when responding to interdepartmental inquiries Copes with frequent interruption and changing priorities Attends meetings at other buildings

Physical Requirements

Requires ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods using a computer, reading manuals, etc… Occasional ability to lift, carry, and put away file boxes weighing up to 25 lbs Manual dexterity for data input, paperwork and use of standard office equipment Wears company-standard PPE when entering fabrication shops or visiting project sites. Project site PPE includes CSA approved steel toed boots and long pants Involves walking on uneven ground in yards and at project sites
