Are you a clinical leader who enjoys working with a large, multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, critical care environment? The Foothills Medical Centre Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (FMC NICU) is a 39 bed, level 3 unit located in Calgary, Alberta. Critically ill neonates in Southern Alberta receive lifesaving care in the FMC NICU.As a Nurse Clinician, you will have an opportunity to provide direct care for neonates and to coordinate workflow and to evaluate and prioritize patient care in a dynamic NICU. You will be a clinical role model and ensure adherence to care standards, policies, and procedures. Your Nurse Clinician role is to guide and assist the multidisciplinary team in complex patient care plans and to act a resource for patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.We are looking for someone who actively encourages and supports the change process, quality improvement activities and evidence based care.Your knowledge of adult learning principles will allow you to create an environment conducive to ongoing learning for yourself and others. It is essential that you have effective communication skills when engaging members of the multidisciplinary team, to facilitate conflict resolution, and when providing feedback to others.

Description:

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of two years current level 3 NICU experience.Proficiency Connect Care.NRP certification.Recent Charge Nurse/Nurse Clinician experience or other Leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Nursing.NRP Instructor certification.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.Continuing education focusing on leadership and/or communication and mentorship/preceptorship.Completion of NICU Certificate Program.Experience in facilitating/leading simulation.
