The Role: 

Our site in Entegris Canada - Toronto is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Technology Engineer to join our team at our Speciality Chemicals Manufacturing site. This person will be responsible for working with the various functional managers in developing and implementing world class manufacturing through more efficient and effective methods of producing products and processes, focusing on safety, service, quality, and agility through process improvements. 

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

Product Support and Training: 

  • Evaluate existing processes and implement new processes/automation techniques to improve process flow, quality and first pass yields; reduce product cost and lead time.

  • Create and revise process instructions and routings and train production staff on standard operating procedures. Advise maintenance personnel about any requirements and changes regarding set-up, maintenance or trouble-shooting the process/equipment. 

  • Initiate and lead lean-sigma projects on key business processes to influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, total product lead time reduction, cost effectiveness and product/system quality.

  • Promote and implement use of continuous improvement tools to eliminate non-value-added activities.  

  • Work with production personnel to attain 100% on-time shipping performance by eliminating quality issues, improving capacity on bottle-neck processes, and providing support as needed. 

  • Follow and ensure compliance to procedure and ISO requirements. 

  • Leas 8D Problem Solving Teams in the failure analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective and preventative action activities for customer complaint resolution and internal manufacturing defect resolutions.

  • Ensure feedback and corrective action communication and implementation is consistent with customer expectations. Work with Quality to ensure closure of corrective actions within timing goals.  

  • Participate in New Product Development Team activities as needed (development of FMEA and Control Plans, data collection and analysis, etc.). Analyze results, validation and qualification protocols for products, processes, and equipment and work through Release to Manufacturing process to release only capable processes to production.  

  • Develop ROI data for equipment replacement and coordinate the design, purchase or construction, and implementation with emphasis on design of fixtures. Develop assembly techniques, procedures and manufacturing cost reduction plans. 

  • Participates in material disposition decisions and reviews the status of blocked stock materials for the timely implementation of material disposition decisions. 

  • Participate in 5S activities in manufacturing areas and provide guidance and support to drive improvements. Adhere to company established safety practices and reports potential hazards promptly. 

  • Complete miscellaneous tasks as directed by the manager to support production goals. Develop and maintains audit functions, (product, process, and operating system) ensure quality systems and products are consistent with internal documentation, standards, and customer requirements. 

Project Management: 

  • Drive a “Safety First” culture by performing equipment, process, and behavioral inspections and implementing solutions to risks. 

  • Lead small capital projects to expand manufacturing capacity, transition products from small scale to high volume manufacturing. 

  • Utilize project management techniques to develop project charters, budgets, risk assessments, resource plans, Gantt charts and periodic status reports. 

  • Present project progress reports to key stakeholders. 

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting of tactical manufacturing issues, and mentor at all levels to improve manufacturing efficiencies. 

  • Implement the “Standardization of the Entegris Way” across the Toronto facility. 

What We Seek: 

  • B.S. or higher in Chemical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred but a related technical field will be considered.  

  • Proven success working with all levels across an organization, including external contacts. Ability to question the status quo, drive change, and be a strong communicator.  

  • Project management qualification (PMP) or equivalent project management experience

  • 7-10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering with strong Project engineering/management experience in high purity chemical, petrochemical & pharmaceutical manufacturing. 

  • Experience with mechanical & process design of equipment for chemical manufacturing 

  • Demonstrated leadership ability; the ability to work as part of a team and drive success independently 

  • Excellent English, verbal and written communications skills. 

  • Ability to present technical data to all levels of the organization. 

  • Ability to produce results when facing deadlines or commitments. 

  • Expert knowledge and experience with implementing Six Sigma, process improvements (DOE), Statistical Process Controls, Process capabilities studies, FMEA, process audits, Root Cause analysis, Problem Solving Techniques and other proactive quality management practices; project management and leadership skills with an ability to collaborate with cross functional department. 

Outstanding Candidates Will Have: 

  • Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus. 

  • A PMP certification

  • Experience with ISO quality standards for product/process control

  • A drive to learn new skills and find ways to continuously improve the performance of manufacturing systems.
