Family Day Care Services is a non-profit, charitable organization with a long and distinguished history of providing high-quality early learning and child care services to children and families throughout Toronto, York and Peel Regions. We are a multi service organization with over 500 employees, providing a broad range of services including: 24 Child Care Centres, 32 Before and After Care programs, 204 Licensed Home Child Cares, 6 Early ON programs, 2 Homework Plus programs, and Special Needs Resourcing for children and their families living in the Greater Toronto Area.

Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst collaborates in the preparation of the Agency’s internal annual budget as well as budget submissions to regional/provincial governments and other agencies. The position is responsible for the preparation of quarterly reporting to Regions on all EarlyON programs; prepares the analysis of grants utilization for regional governments as required.

Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Manager, Finance the Financial Analyst coordinates the preparation of the annual agency budget Assists Program Managers in budget submissions to regional governments Assists the Manager, Finance in preparation of the United Way budget submission Prepares year-to-date financial reports to the Regional Governments Prepares quarterly wage subsidy utilization, journal entries and reconciliations Prepares Annual Grants utilization report for regional government Assists with preparation of monthly financial statements and reviews same Variance analysis of monthly general ledger and financial statements. Revenue recognition, funds analysis and complete government documents Maintains year-end audit schedules Reconciles balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis Prepares annual returns (i.e. Charity Information Return, etc.) Completes GST returns semi-annually Completes Statistics Canada reporting Prepares and posts payroll journal entries Other assignments as directed by the Manager, Finance

Education, Skills and Experience   Required

·Completion of Post-secondary education with a CPA designation or enrollment in CPA, CMA, CGA, CA

·Three to five years financial accounting, auditing and/or budgeting experience

Experience in a not-for-profit sector is preferred Knowledge of the application of principles and practices employed in effective financial analysis and research, budget development and control techniques and processes Strong analytical, research, problem solving and resolution abilities Ability to communicate results of analysis and effectively interact with leaders at all levels of the organization A team player that will think strategically and effectively when faced with difficult challenges Highly organized and efficient to prioritize and work effectively in a deadline oriented environment Ability to work with minimal direction, including ensuring that all work aligns with program and Agency goals Strong project management skills Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, macros, V-lookups)  functions) Microsoft Business central or similar Accounting software, SAGE, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Dayforce Payroll and HR module experience an asset Interest for process improvement and demonstrate innovation
