About the Opportunity

The Senior Financial analyst role is a key role within the NS Health Finance Team with responsibility to provide financial leadership and support to the organization and across the finance portfolio. The senior financial analyst works in collaboration with the portfolio leadership team to support the business operations of the program and services.

 

This includes financial analysis, expense forecasting, budget planning including developing business cases, contract management and implementing strategies for cost management of complex situations and initiatives requiring action and support from the finance team. In many cases, much of this work will include direct consultation and review with senior leaders across the NSH.

 

In general, the Senior Financial Analyst will have accountability for more complex accounting issues, financial planning, continuous quality improvement initiatives, expense forecasting and other complex duties as assigned. The senior financial analyst will work in collaboration with operational and clinical leadership teams to support financial requirements and business operations. This involves establishing business systems and processes, supporting variance analysis, financial forecasting, efficiency analysis, budget planning, business case development and implementation support, contract management, and implementing strategies for cost management in complex situations.

 

The senior financial analyst will also support the strategic financial planning processes including business planning, implementation & tracking of strategic initiatives, value creation activities, and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives and financial strategies for the organization. Much of this work will include direct consultation and review with senior leaders across NS Health, and as such is an excellent opportunity to support and influence.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Completion of a CPA accounting designation OR a masters-level degree considered an asset
  • Minimum five years' of strong finance experience including knowledge of budget, revenue, financial reporting, general accounting, or financial analytics required
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is an asset
  • Possesses a solid understanding of financial processes, public sector accounting and reporting on key performance indicators, with a focus on outcomes
  • Excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, strategic problem solving and conceptual thinking skills
  • Highly knowledgeable of SAP or another ERP system functionality for financial processes and how they relate to or impact business processes
  • Experience in engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participative manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives an organization
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent, Full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$37.61 - $47.01 Hourly
