We're actively seeking new talent to join our mission of transforming B.C.'s energy landscape. As one of BC's Top Employers with a diverse team of over 2,700 employees, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong, and grow. Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.

Position Overview

You’re well-established in the field of archaeology and skilled in the arts of heritage resource management. You know how to translate your expertise when collaborating on large-scale projects and are comfortable with communicating the complexities of your work with project partners and across departments. We’re searching for someone like you to be our Archaeologist.

In this role, you’ll support our project managers and planners in managing heritage and archaeological risk, ensuring compliance with heritage legislation, corporate policies and industry best practices. You’ll also oversee heritage and archaeological consultants and engage with internal departments and external stakeholders, such as government agencies.
Your sharp eye for detail enables you to manage heritage resources efficiently and identify savvy process improvements. You’re a charismatic people-person who has a great ability to build effective working relationships with departmental peers and external regulatory partners.

We need collaborators, innovators and leaders like yourself to help us achieve our goal and join us in rethinking our energy future.

In year 1, you will:
  • Learn our Environmental Management Systems, corporate policies and processes.
  • Assist planners and project managers with reviewing projects, providing guidance and managing consultants.
  • Build relationships with internal clients and external regulatory agencies.
In year 2, you will:
  • Continue to provide guidance to planners and project managers, review projects and manage consultants.
  • Maintain relationships with internal clients and external regulatory agencies.
  • Contribute to the improvement of our Heritage Resource Management process and training.
What it takes:
  • A degree in anthropology or archaeology, plus five years working as an archaeologist in B.C.
  • Certification as a Professional Member of the British Columbia Association of Professional Archaeologists (BCAPA) and a B.C. Heritage Conservation Act Permit holder.
  • A thorough understanding of the B.C. Heritage Conservation Act and familiarity with the Archaeology Branch and BC Energy Regulator Heritage Processes.
  • Confident interpersonal and public speaking skills for small meetings and larger presentations.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft suite of tools and GIS mapping systems.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
