Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Technical Work

Assistance with site investigations and condition assessments Assistance with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for information Assistance to project managers with structural and multi-disciplinary projects Assistance in the preparation of structural designs including: building, bridge, culvert, and marine designengineering studiestechnical specificationsdesign calculations Completion of design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion Completion of the review of safe work practices and performing risk assessments for employee tasks Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members  Contribution to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations Contributions to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request Participation in the Early Career Development program

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

Education

A degree in civil or structural engineering. A Master’s degree in structural engineering will be considered an asset. One to two years’ work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset, however, new graduates will be considered

Experience

Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements Knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration Working knowledge of current AutoCAD and Civil 3D software will be considered an asset Working Knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6) and experience working on bridge structures is considered an asset Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
