What is the opportunity?

As the Senior Director, Culture & Conduct, you will be responsible for setting the strategy, providing direction, and leading the tactical execution of the PCB Culture & Conduct Framework, enabling risk assessment & monitoring, leading oversight & governance.

You will lead a talented group of technologists and business strategists & experts delivering on our goal to Strengthen our Culture of Doing What’s Right.  This is a technology enabled risk management team at the forefront of maximizing machine learning data science driven models to identify and mitigate conduct risk in Canadian Banking.

Acting as the Regional Banking representative for the PCB Culture & Conduct Framework you will work closely with senior executives across Regional Banking and the broader enterprise to enable the effective design & development of controls for Advisors activities, behaviors, outcomes, and practices across the P&CB network. 

You will lead and participate in key Culture & Conduct risk forums at the senior and executive levels, which are a critical part of PCB Risk Management Framework. These forums include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line partners, and are to ensure transparency related to risk ratings, themes, identified issues, and material risks. You will ensure action plans and recommendations for key policy and/or operational changes raised and clearly communicated, seeking counsel and/or approvals from leadership as required.

You will also work with key partners to ensure that the PCB Culture & Conduct infrastructure meets and/or exceeds regulatory requirements for controls and monitoring, as well as lead/support privileged internal investigations where material conduct issues have been identified.

What will you do?

  • The Senior Director, Culture and Conduct is a critical leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the bank’s strategy to enable effective conduct risk monitoring, management and mitigation for both new & emerging risks.
    • Provide strategic guidance on risk mitigation strategies to inform the development of sophisticated and comprehensive analytical risk models.
    • Provide thought leadership and guidance on reporting strategy for the outcomes of control monitoring programs.
    • Align conduct monitoring programs and controls to address regulatory requirements (ex. FCAC – Bill C-86), with a focus on Client, Reputational, and Regulatory risk, ensuring we demonstrate and deliver an industry best conduct risk management framework.
    • Lead / support privileged projects requiring thought leadership, strategic thinking, and strength in project execution

  • Collaborate with senior leaders and executives across the enterprise as the subject matter expert on conduct risk management.
    • The successful incumbent will have a high degree of impact & influence and partner with senior leaders across Regional Banking, Group Risk Management (GRM), Operations, the Lines of Business, Human Resources & Employee Relations, Compliance & Audit, Client Care, Corporate Investigation Services (CIS), Fraud, Credit Adjudication & Collections, and Legal.
    • Engage with senior management, business leaders and risk committees to communicate conduct risk insights.
    • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to interpret and implement regulatory changes.

  • Lead a cross-functional team of both technologists and business strategists
    • Lead and support a middle office team of enablement experts who engage with cross-enterprise and in-market leaders at all levels, with a focus on business strategy and execution.
    • Provide strategic guidance to a team of data scientists and risk analysts to strengthen our risk control monitoring programs and advance our analytical capabilities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 10+ years of relevant business experience in risk management within the financial industry.
  • Strong background in data analytics, risk control model development and knowledge of advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing conduct, regulatory and/or operational risk.
  • Experience working cross-enterprise and with senior/executive leadership.
  • Strong people management skills with a proven ability to lead a team of highly talented individuals and deliver results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and with confidence with senior leaders
