Your Opportunity:
The Recreation Therapist I (RT I) who will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for children, youth and their families who are being supported within the Child, Youth and Family Addiction and Mental Health Portfolio. The RT I will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centered, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. As part of this role, the RT I will carry a caseload and will support clients one-on-one, as a family group and by facilitating educational and/or therapeutic groups. The RT I will complete assessments, create and implement treatment plans, provide education to children, youth and families, provide outreach support as needed by connecting clients to community resources and providing experiential modeling in these environments. The RT I will also lend their expertise to the larger multidisciplinary team through clinical support and consultation. They will collaborate and communicate with the Mental Health Team and participate in supervision, case consultations, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.
Description:
As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.
Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
