The Dietitian I - is a frontline professional position within Nutrition Services reporting to the Manager of Nutrition Services, South Zone. In this position FTE of your time would be directed to home care. You would be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans for home living, supportive living and adult home enteral clients in Lethbridge. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in both facility and community settings. The remaining FTE of your time would be in Population Public Health (PPH). The PPH dietitian provides nutrition expertise to promote the nutritional health of the population in their zone. Using population health promotion strategies, the PPH dietitian works in collaboration with zone public health teams, local community stakeholders, and provincial PPH Nutrition Services working groups to identify issues, contribute to the development of programs/products or services, lead local implementation and participates in and informs evaluation for sustainability and continuous quality improvement. The PPH dietitian delivers consistent, accurate, evidence-based nutrition information across the lifespan or for specific subsets of the population within their communities.

Description:

As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence and effectiveness in verbal and written communication. Knowledge of population public health nutrition including a sound understanding of nutrition across the lifespan. Strong networking, communication and interpersonal skills to be able to develop and sustain positive community partnerships. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with clients, colleagues and community partners as a team.
