The Centre d'Essais Techniques (MER) (CETM) is the main Maritime testing and evaluation center for the National Defense. CETM provides a range of multidisciplinary technical testing services, including non-destructive testing to ensure asset protection. CETM is an establishment of the Department of National Defence (DND) and has been managed by Weir Canada Inc. on behalf of the Government of Canada since 1953. More than 400 people currently work for Weir at CETM or with clients, fulfilling mandates from the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and DND in a wide variety of technical fields. 

Purpose of Role: As a non-destructive testing (NDT) specialist, you will be called upon to support inspection activities for naval vessels located mainly in Montreal, Halifax and Victoria.

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the NDT Technician will perform the following duties:

Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Perform ship inspections on various components and interpret results;

Write inspection reports;

Establish and maintain a professional relationship with customers.

Supervise and train the assistant technician, when required;

Knowledge, training and qualifications :

Degree in a relevant field.

Work ethic and professionalism;

Flexibility with work schedules;

Concern for providing excellent customer service and quality work;

Comfortable working at heights and/or in confined spaces;

Good knowledge of ultrasonic testers, penetrating liquids, magnetic particles, eddy currents and other equipment.

Bilingualism (spoken and written);

Good team player with strong communication skills;

Initiative and autonomy;

Le centre d’essais technique (MER) (CETM) est le principal centre Maritime d’essais et d’évaluation de la Défense national. Le CETM fournit divers services multidisciplinaires d’essais techiques incluant les essais non destructifs pour assurer la protection des actifs. Le CETM est un établissement du ministère de la Défense nationale (MDN) et géré par Weir Canada Inc. pour le compte du gouvernement du Canada depuis 1953. Plus de 400 personnes travaillent actuellement pour Weir au CETM ou auprès de clients, et s'acquittent des mandats que leur confient la Marine royale canadienne (MRC) et le MDN dans une grande diversité de domaines techniques. 
 

En tant que spécialiste en essai non-destructif (END) vous serez appelé à supporter les activités d’inspection pour les navires navals principalement situés à Montréal, Halifax et Victoria.


Sous la supervision du directeur des opérations, le technicien END exercera les fonctions suivantes:

Exécuter les travaux d’inspection sur les navires sur diverses composantes et interpréter les résultats;

Rédiger les rapports d’inspection;

Établir et maintenir une relation professionnelle avec les clients.

Superviser et entrainer l’aide-technicien, lorsque requis;

Connaissances, formation et qualifications :

Diplôme d’études dans un domaine pertinent.

Éthique de travail et professionnalisme;

Flexibilité avec les horaires de travail;

Souci d’offrir un excellent service aux clients et un travail de qualité;

À l’aise avec le travail en hauteur et/ou les espaces clos;

Possédé de bonnes connaissances des appareils d’essai ultrasonores, des liquides pénétrants, des particules magnétiques, des courant Foucault et autres appareils.

Bilinguisme (parlé et écrit);

Bon esprit d'équipe avec de solides compétences en communication;

Initiative et autonomie;

Capacité à obtenir un cote de fiabilité – celle-ci nécessite la citoyenneté canadienne et 10 ans de résidence au Canada
