Job Description

De Beers Group has an opportunity for a motivated and energetic individual to join the Site Services team as a Boiler Operator at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories.  Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor will be working a two (2) weeks in / two (2) weeks out rotation, the incumbent will safely and effectively operate equipment and take responsibility for equipment and tools provided to carry out tasks. The ideal candidate will be one who enjoys multi-tasking, is results-oriented and is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

 Key responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with development of planned maintenance procedures and maintenance schedules;
  • Maintain longevity of equipment and facilities through proper operation and maintenance;
  • Continuous evaluation of operations; recommending improvements and modifications;
  • Ensure critical and operational spare parts have been identified and min/max inventory levels are adequate for 100% reliability;
  • Perform and interpret standardized process control tests and adjust plant equipment and process appropriately;
  • Collection of data for preparation of daily logs and routine reports;
  • Prepare reports based on monitoring requirements as set forth by the permit approval;
  • Maintain and repair process equipment, heating systems, lighting systems and lab equipment; and
  • Assist in preparation of operation and capital budgets.

 

Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the role resides within the Site Services department.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate.  Additional trade certifications (instrumentation, electrician, millwright, and pipefitter) considered an asset;
  • Role specific certificate:

            Level 1 Operator: Certification/qualification in one system;

            Level 2 Operator: Certification/qualification in any combination of two systems;

            Level 3 Operator: Certification/qualification in three systems;

  • 5+ years relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously;
  • Ability to proactively identify system problems and resolve;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships across all departments and disciplines; and
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.
