Production Drill Operator

De Beers Group is seeking a highly skilled Production Drill Operator to join their team at the Gahcho Kué Mine. This position operates on a rotational basis and involves safely operating large rotary or percussion/hammer drills to bore blast holes, contributing directly to the diamond mining process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate drilling equipment in accordance with company standards and procedures.
  • Accurately read and interpret drill pattern instructions for precise hole placement.
  • Measure drilled holes and meticulously inspect the overall drill pattern to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Utilize various drilling machines to effectively bore blast holes, contributing to the efficient extraction of diamonds.
  • Conduct thorough daily safety checks and inspections on all equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Promptly report any equipment deficiencies or concerns to ensure timely maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in production drilling operations within the mining industry.
  • Hands-on experience operating large rotary and percussion drills, demonstrating proficiency in their use and maintenance.
  • Ability to adapt to demanding work schedules, including day and night shifts on a rotational basis.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety, health, and environmental standards, adhering to all regulations and protocols.
  • Experience working in remote mining sites and diverse cultural environments.

Desirable Assets:

  • Heavy equipment operating certificate.
  • Prior experience with specific drill models relevant to the operation.
  • Background in open-pit mining operations, particularly within the diamond industry.
