Bell Media in the BC Peace region is looking for a full time Reporter for TV and Radio

Key Responsibilities

 

With the support of the News Director, you will:

 

  • Immerse yourself in our community - develop community contacts, regularly check in with police, fire and ambulance, etc.
  • Attend news events, chase stories and follow up on files.
  • Attend municipal government, school district and regional district meetings regularly.
  • Edit and produce stories for television, radio and the web on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate as a team to brainstorm riveting story ideas and news coverage plans.
  • Expand your skills by reading news, weather, and sports on Radio and on occasion, take on the opportunity to backfill the anchor chair
  • Other duties as assigned.
Critical Qualifications

 

  • Must be comfortable in front of the camera with a professional presence and be ready to dive into live TV  
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a mature and professional manner.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and work with minimal supervision at times.
  • Degree or Diploma from a recognized Broadcast/Journalism Program or equivalent experience
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to operate ENG camera and editing equipment
  • Knowledge of Burli and Final Cut or similar programs, considered an asset.
  • Preferred 1 – 3 years’ experience in a similar or related position.
  • A full and unrestricted Class 5 drivers’ licence with a clean drivers’ abstract is required
