Part-Time Course Developer

Serving the Durham Region and Northumberland County communities for over 50 years, with campuses in Oshawa and Whitby, the college offers over 12,500 full-time post-secondary and apprenticeship students access to more than 145 full-time post-secondary programs – including four honours bachelor degrees and nine apprenticeship programs. Led by over 1,860 full- and part-time staff, DC has an estimated annual economic impact of more than $913 million on Durham Region.
Activities:
- Identify, design, and develop appropriate learning materials for technology mediated learning including developing new content, curating available material, navigation layout, assessments, text and visual content etc.;
- Implement the principles of Universal Design for Learning during development of materials;
- Maintain alignment of all teaching materials with the course learning outcomes;
- Ensure all materials are AODA and WCAG 2.0 compliant and follow copyright law.
The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of recent experience that relates directly to the topic being taught;
- Holds a Master’s degree (or higher) in Accounting or Business Administration; an additional undergraduate or graduate degree in Education is a significant asset;
- Holds a CPA designation;
- At least 5 years of cumulative post-secondary teaching experience in accounting, with an emphasis on technology enhanced teaching an asset;
- High technical skill using all main functions of learning management systems, particularly D2L Brightspace;
- HTML experience an asset;
- Ability to effectively design, develop and integrate technology to meet curricular needs;
- Demonstrated skill and good judgment in selection of appropriate teaching materials;
- The ability to produce quality written documentation;
- Excellent research and critical thinking skills;
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and participate in consultative decision making;
- The demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines;
- The organizational skills to take a project from an initial idea through delivery, working under pressure, with minimal supervision.
Preference will be given to candidates with relevant educational credentials and a proven track record of relevant work/teaching/online course development experience.
