The Cardiology Technologist performs electrocardiograms (ECGs) and related cardiology diagnostic testing procedures such as cardiopulmonary exercise tests, Holter hookup (Ambulatory monitoring) and scanning, and cardiac screening in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures. Assists the Cardiologist with pacemaker programming and monitoring, transesophageal pacing and atrial leads. Provides training for other clinical staff to use cardiology equipment for ECG tracings including acting as a resource for pediatric ECG.

Graduation from a recognized program in Cardiology Technology Three (3) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with ECG electronic record system. Experience with Hospital Information System (HIS) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred Current registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists. Eligible for membership with the Cardiology Technologist Association of British Columbia (CTABC) Current qualifications in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).You also have:
Knowledge of and the ability to operate all equipment related to the position, including windows-based software packages such as word processing. Demonstrated ability to adapt to working with new technology. Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and patients. Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively and function as an active member of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to organize workload and set priorities. Demonstrated ability to teach and provide instructions. Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Demonstrated ability to work with children and families. Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents – including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study – and how they intersect across the health care system. Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
