About this opportunity:

Cenovus is currently looking for a Senior Reservoir Engineer to join the Conventional Heavy Oil asset team in Calgary.

Collaborating with the Senior Manager, Conventional Heavy Oil Reservoir Engineering, the Senior Reservoir Engineer, Conventional Heavy Oil (CHO) will work within a technical team responsible for optimizing Conventional Heavy Oil assets and progressing development of Cenovus’s strategy within the Conventional Heavy Oil asset base located in the Lloydminster area of Saskatchewan and Alberta. The candidate will work in a multidiscipline technical environment to provide subsurface reservoir engineering expertise across a variety of areas and projects.

What you’ll do:

Translate strategy and priorities into development plans and actions.

Maximize value of Conventional Heavy Oil assets by working collaboratively with asset team members (Reservoir, Geoscience, Production, Field Operations and Mineral Land).

Provide reservoir engineering guidance to evaluation and design of Conventional Heavy Oil projects, long-range planning.

Provide reservoir modeling to enhance our current primary multilateral projects and determine design of future primary and EOR projects.

Leverage reservoir simulation and empirical modeling to enhance understanding of Heavy Oil to drive future well/field design optimizations and improvements.

Participate in project lookbacks and competitor analysis to improve well costs, design and performance.

Ensure forecasts are reflective of current performance.

Support development of others by sharing learnings and experiences, and actively mentor peers.

Who you are:

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) accredited with APEGA/APEGS.

8+ years of reservoir/production engineering experience.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Proficiency in AccuMap, PVR, SCADA, Spotfire, Value Navigator.

Experience in reservoir simulation.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, environment where priorities change frequently, and problems are complex or ambiguous.

Experience/capability in economic evaluation.

Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.

Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly.

Experience designing and implementing water/polymer flood operations is an asset.

Experience in Python, SQL, VBA programming is an asset.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail.

Models the values of Cenovus in all interactions and activities.
