We are looking for an individual who is passionate about food and prior retail experience to lead our produce team at West Saanich. As the Produce Manager, you will oversee all aspects of our produce department. Your role involves maintaining product quality, managing inventory, and creating an inviting shopping experience for our customers. Excellent internal and external customer service skills are a must. Responsibilities

Team Leadership:Supervise and train produce staff, ensuring efficient workflow, proper training, and adherence to company policies. Train staff in various duties. including ordering, trimming, and packaging of produce.Team Management: Schedule shifts, hire staff and train new staff.Quality Control: Regularly inspect produce items to ensure freshness and quality.Inventory: Monitor inventory levels and order fresh produce as needed. Manage product storage, rotation, and Implement effective inventory management practices.Food Safety and Sanitation:Ensure that the department meets all heath and safety requirementsCustomer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers with produce selections. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests related to fruits and vegetables.Financial Management:Track sales, analyze performance, and contribute to budget planning.

Job Requirements:

Experience: Minimum 2 years retail experience in a produce environment Product Knowledge: Strong knowledge of fresh produce including seasonality, and quality Leadership: Outstanding leadership, communication and customer service skills Skills: Experience with ordering and the ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively. Great attitude and work ethic. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks Financials: experience with scheduling, budgets and margins
