JobSummary:
The Outside Building Material Estimator will beresponsible for accurately estimating the quantities and costs ofmaterials needed for construction projects. This role involvesworking closely with customers sales teams and suppliers to provideprecise and competitive estimates. The ideal candidate will have astrong understanding of construction materials excellentcommunication skills and a keen eye for detail.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Conduct onsite visits to assess project requirementsand gather necessary information.
  • Collaborate with contractors architects and engineersto understand project specifications.
  • Preparedetailed and accurate material takeoffs and costestimates.
  • Utilizeestimating software and tools to compile and presentestimates.
  • Reviewand interpret construction plans and blueprints.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain pricing andavailability of materials.
  • Providesupport to the sales team in preparing bids andproposals.
  • Maintainuptodate knowledge of industry trends materials andpricing.
  • Ensurecompliance with company policies and industryregulations.
  • Buildand maintain strong relationships with clients andsuppliers.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a building materialestimator or in a similar role.
  • Strongknowledge of construction materials methods and industrystandards.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software and tools(e.g. Bluebeam PlanSwift etc.).
  • Excellent mathematical and analyticalskills.
  • Abilityto read and interpret construction plans andblueprints.
  • Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailoriented with strong organizationalabilities.
  • Validdriver s license and ability to travel to job sites.
  • Bachelor s degree in construction managementengineering or related field is preferred but notrequired.

ConstructionKnowledge: In-depth understanding of construction processes,materials, and methods. Familiarity with building codes andindustry standards. Estimating Skills: Proficiency in materialtake-offs and cost estimating. Experience with estimating software(e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift). Technical Skills: Ability to read andinterpret construction plans and blueprints. Strong mathematicaland analytical skills. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal andwritten communication abilities. Ability to effectively communicatewith contractors, architects, engineers, suppliers, and clients.Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build andmaintain relationships with clients and suppliers. Team-orientedwith the ability to collaborate effectively with sales teams andother stakeholders. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy andattention to detail in preparing estimates. Thoroughness inreviewing project specifications and plans. Organizational Skills:Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects anddeadlines. Effective time management skills. Problem-SolvingSkills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to materialestimation and project requirements. Creative problem-solvingapproach to meet client needs and budget constraints. NegotiationSkills: Skilled in negotiating prices and terms with suppliers.Ability to secure the best deals for materials and services.Customer Service Orientation: Commitment to providing excellentcustomer service. Ability to understand and address client needsand concerns. Technical Proficiency: Competency with MicrosoftOffice Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with projectmanagement software is a plus. Professionalism: High level ofprofessionalism and integrity. Strong work ethic and reliability.Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirementsand client demands. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamicenvironment. Physical Stamina: Ability to conduct on-site visitsand assessments, which may involve walking and standing forextended periods.
