MANDATE

The Executive Director oversees and leads the Senior Leadership Team and managing day to day operations of the Club. Together with the Board of Directors, they are responsible for determining and updating the direction, goals, and overall strategy of the Club.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Club Leadership

• Implement the Club’s Strategic Plan, Vision, Mission, and Values, and actively participate with the Board of Directors in developing updates and improvements. • Develop, execute, and monitor the Club’s Annual Operating Plan and Budget, in line with the current Strategic Plan.

• Lead the senior staff, managing them in a professional manner, and ensuring that individually and collectively they work effectively to achieve Club objectives. Manage

direct reports in key functional areas: technical/

coaching, finance, operations, and administration.

• Ensure that Club policies are up-to-date and are consistent with legal, governing body, league, and facility requirements.

• Build upon positive relationships with the Club’s stakeholders, both internal and external.

• Ensure that the Club meets current and pending standards for the Canada Soccer National Youth Club Licence and the Ontario Player Development League Licence.

• Ensure that the Club meets requirements or standards set by Canada Soccer,

Ontario Soccer and the Toronto Soccer Association.

• Engage Board, staff, and stakeholders on the consultation, design, and . implementation of strategic initiatives.

• Lead the development of strategic initiatives that foster a safe and inclusive Club environment, including implementing Safe Sport strategies.

• Ensure the Club is strategic, progressive, and responsive to change.

2) Operations Management

• Ensure that the Club has access to sufficient facilities to meet current and projected program needs while ensuring optimal utilization of space.

• Oversee the deployment of Club assets – staff, facilities, equipment, uniforms – in their delivery of programs.

• Oversee the development of Club communications strategies and their delivery: social media and website, advertising, public relations, presentations to parents. • Ensure that the Club actively pursues sponsorship and grant opportunities.

3) Financial Management

• Oversee the development of the Annual Operating Plan and Budget and updates, together with the Technical Director, Director of Business Operations, the Manager, Finance and Finance Committee.

• Support the Director of Finance when responding to questions and requests from the Club’s auditor.

• Review and, together with the Senior Leadership Team, approve program fees. • Review quarterly statements.

• Monitor cash flow.

• Approve expenditures according to financial approval procedures.

4) Human Resources Management

• Ensure that the Club has sufficient human resources (full-time, part-time, contract, and volunteer) to deliver programs in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

• Oversee the development and implementation of human resources policies including positions, recruitment, and hiring; onboarding and follow-up training; workplace policies and performance reviews; exit interviews.

• Establish personal development plans for direct reports. Ensure that all staff have a personal development plan in place.

• Plan for succession of key roles, including the roles of Executive Director, and Technical Director, together with the Board.

5) Board of Directors

• Prepare reports for all Board of Directors meetings, updating Board members regarding operational, financial, and human resources matters.

• Between Board meetings, communicate key issues to Board members. • Report to the Annual General Meeting.

6) External Relations

• Maintain top-level relationships with Canada Soccer, Ontario Soccer and the Toronto Soccer Association.

• Maintain top-level relationships with major facility providers.

• Maintain top-level relationships with major sponsors.

• Develop and maintain relationship with other Club partners.

• Oversee relationships and engage with the media.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University Degree or college diploma in a relevant field.

• 7+ years of progressive relevant experience is required.

• Knowledge and experience in the grassroots sport system and business operations.

• Must have knowledge of Canadian Sport for Life Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Framework.

• Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check & Toronto Police Background Check • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire others.

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
