Currently, our team is looking for a Bariatric Educator who can work with us on a permanent full-time basis at our Scarborough clinic. Please note that this is a hybrid position based on clinic needs.
 
Responsibilities Educate and provide initial and ongoing nutrition support for patients undergoing bariatric surgery. Complete a pre-operative consultation on patients prior to bariatric surgery in order to evaluate the patient’s dietary preparedness for surgery. Provide education on nutritional management to ensure a balanced diet to support healing, aid with tissue repair and overall health. Collaborate with patients to set realistic postoperative goals based on the evidence-based curriculum. Support patients in implementing the care plan set out by multidisciplinary team. Provide behaviour change counseling and work with patients to help them stay accountable and on track with their recovery and health objectives. Develop and monitor educational resources for the bariatric program. Utilize technology to deliver patient care when applicable.  Teach short webinars or group workshops on topics relevant to the patient population. Stay current and aware of opportunities to implement new, evidenced-based methods of patient assessment and treatment. Participate in group learning opportunities. What you’ll bring to the team A proven track record of being resourceful and finding solutions even when there is no clear path. Passionate to motivate and coach patients towards a healthier lifestyle. Adaptable to change and a willingness to take on new program initiatives to meet the growing needs of the program and LMC. Education/Experience A valid RD license and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Bariatric or Outpatient Dietitian or 2 years of patient education experience which includes weight management counseling, required. Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, desirable.
