Purpose

The incumbent will play a key role in promoting electrical system and equipment reliability through the expert application of proven predictive maintenance techniques. Data collection will result in deficiency diagnosis, proactive repairs, scheduling and future preventative maintenance task & frequency revisions as required. In addition, verification of the currency of all site electrical documentation including single line drawings, control schematics, arc flash analysis and verification of protective relay settings will ensure electrical systems integrity and worker safety.

Responsibilities

 

Electrical Reliability 

 

  • Preventive Maintenance requirements – CSA-Z463 - development and implementation of plan and schedule. Tasks to be planned and scheduled by Electrical Planner under the direction of the Electrical Coordinator.
  • Predictive Maintenance Initiatives.

 

Documentation/Program Updates

 

  • Thermal Imaging of distribution systems
  • Ground Fault testing of portable power take offs
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply - testing


Project support

 

  • Provide support to special projects during the design, construction and commissioning stages in areas of expertise under the authority of the Electrical Coordinator and with the approval of the Reliability Coordinator specifically intended to promote system and equipment reliability in the finished product. 
Requirements

 

  • Post Secondary Electrical Diploma 
  • 309A – Electrician
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible electrical maintenance experience in an industrial environment, with a preference to mining.
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience planning and implementing projects with the focus on electrical efficiencies.
  • Working knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems up to 115kV.
  • Working knowledge of electrical process and control systems. 
  • Demonstrated competence in providing direction and support to contracted service providers.
  • Practical knowledge of the application of the OESC, CSA, M-421, IEEE, OH&S, NFPA 70E&70B, CSA Z462 and all other applicable codes and standards applicable to electrical installations, safety and maintenance.
  • Assist as required to update electrical power and control documentation, arc flash, fuse coordination and reliability data collection programs.
  • Willingness and ability to attend and achieve the specialized training deemed necessary to support the position requirements.
Working Conditions

The work schedule for this position is 14 on, 14 days off, working 12-hour days.
