POSITION TITLE: MARKER-GRADER - MBAB/MPAC 5N85 - STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS

DEPARTMENT: Graduate Programs, Goodman School of Business

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Temporary Part-time (August 1 to August 31, 2024)

Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds, as per the collective agreement.

JOB SUMMARY:

Strategies for Success is part of Goodman’s Business English and Skills Transition (BEST) program, an integral part of the MBA (ISP) and MPAcc (ISP) programs. The objective of this program is to prepare students for graduate studies in Canada and enable development of English language skills in a business context, prior to proceeding to the graduate courses. The BEST program takes place over four weeks in August of each year and involves approximately 200 international students.

The main duties of this position will include marking assignments and providing feedback to students in a very short turn-around time. Furthermore, marker-graders will need to keep accurate records, attend weekly meetings with program coordinator, and complete other marking related duties as required.

Please note that the hired employee will be expected to attend a couple of activities in person on campus in August.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current (or recently graduated) business graduate student.

2. Experience facilitating ESL learning.

3. Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and ability to provide detailed and constructive feedback to students.

4. Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data.

5. Excellent time management skills in order to mark assignments within a constrained turn-around time and meet deadlines. Given the intensive nature of the program, applicants must be fully available in August to meet short deadlines.

6. Competence in the use of email, Sakai, Turnitin, Microsoft Office 365, Internet, and multi-media equipment.
