The Opportunity:

The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting to fillthe permanent full-time position of Fleet Utility & Technical SupportPerson . The Fleet Utility &Technical Support person performs and/or arranges technical support and systemmaintenance and repairs for the Transit & Fleet Department andFacilities. Coordinates and performstechnical support for the City of Red Deer Fleet, mobile equipment, and Fleettracking systems. Performs daily dutiesto support the technical components of Fleet Services.

As our preferred candidate, youwill have:

Grade 12 with completion of a technical certificate ina related field. *A combination of education and experience may beconsidered. One year experience in a related technical ormechanical environment, where troubleshooting and maintenance of systems andequipment is required. Experience in a warehouse/parts room environment ispreferred. Good technical and mechanical aptitude for workingwith complex technology and other mechanical equipment including but notlimited to fare boxes, camera systems, plug and play, and CNG systems. Anability to adapt to changing technology is essential. Experience working withGPS / AVL tracking technology and other technological equipment would be an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows computerapplications including Office 365 and ability to operate JDEdwards or a relatedinventory and work order program is required. Must have or be able to attain forklift certification. Ability to develop and maintain a good understandingof transit & fleet vehicles including electric vehicles and relatedmaintenance, current and future Smart Transit Technology trends and practices. Valid Alberta Driver’s License, minimum Class 5 with Qendorsement with acceptable driver’s abstract with no more than 5 demeritsshowing on drivers abstract. *Class 3 with Q endorsement is preferred. Detail oriented with ability to prioritize and handlemultiple tasks and meet deadlines, good interpersonal skills and ability tointeract and maintain effective internal and external working relationships. Ability to work independently and to communicateeffectively with internal and external stakeholders, the public, and otherstaff. Ability to provide guidance and direction to work performed byconsultants, contractors, and other stakeholders as assigned. A criminal records check is required.

$31.78 to $33.45 per hour

Hours of Work:

80hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some evening andweekend work may be required when needed.
