The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for an **Aggregates & Hydrovac Facilities Equipment Operator** to fill a permanent full-time position. The Aggregates & Hydrovac Facilities Equipment Operator performs equipment operating duties to manage material at the Aggregates and Hydrovac Waste Treatment Facilities.
- Grade 12 or GED Diploma
- Two years’ experience in operating identified equipment, including detailed knowledge of required maintenance, functions, capabilities, and characteristics of all assigned equipment types (Small to large, rubber-tired and tracked, loaders, excavators, dozers, skid steers, rollers/packers, tandem and single axle gravel trucks, various fleet units and trailers).
- Valid Alberta Class 3 Driver's License with a "Q" endorsement with acceptable driving record.
- Must pass and maintain Hazard Assessment, Supervisory Ground Disturbance, WHMIS, First Aid, Driver Training and other courses as determined by the City or Provincial requirements.
- Ability to work with some independence.
- Ability to respond respectfully and effectively to internal and external users of the sites.
- Ability to cooperate with colleagues as a team, to understand, follow and give written and verbal instructions as required.
- Ability to safely operate assigned heavy equipment with a high level of skill.
- Ability to accurately operate equipment to required grades, compaction requirements and specifications.
- Ability to use various hand tools associated with equipment operation, maintenance, and manual work.
- Knowledge of Waste Management Facility operations.
- Ability to work safely and be diligent when operating equipment near people, equipment, site hazards and obstructions, and traffic at all times.
- Ability to climb into and remain in cabs of all fleet and equipment types for long periods of time.
- Ability to exert occasional moderate to heavy physical effort (e.g., changing attachments on equipment, using shovel to remove mud and debris from tracks of equipment, or other manual activities).
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather and in conditions which may be hazardous, noisy, dirty, wet, or disagreeable.
- Ability to be on-call, work extended shifts, and respond to after-hours emergency work.

$34.93 to $36.77 per hour

**Hours of Work**:
80 hours biweekly; Monday to Thursday, 10 hours per day, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm; some extended shifts, evening and weekend emergency callouts will be required.
